Ladies and Gentlemen, Whackos and Darklings, it is my greatest pleasure to introduce unto you…
La Petite Bob.
Bob started out as a small plastic skull that I found in the clearance bin at JoAnn Fabric just before Christmas. I paid a whole whomping $0.40 for him. I base coated him flat black then painstakingly glued one millionz seed beads to him. That is fiddly work, right there, but it was a labor of love. At some point in the future, I will be doing this again with a larger skull (already dubbed Big Bob, I paid all of $0.80 for him) but I have a few other things in mind for the next one.
When I finished up, I decided that he needed a stand. I originally thought a flat black candle holder, but I couldn’t find one that I liked. I did however find this silver one that I thought would do just fine. However, I decided it needed a little playing down, it was drawing too much of your focus downward. So, I put some fluffy trim around the top and pow, the eye is drawn upward and straight into Bob’s toothy grin like it should be.
I am quite happy with La Petite Bob.
7/17/09 Update:
Bob took 3rd place in my division at the competition I entered him into, netting me $100 for spending however long huffing all that glue! Yeah!
