{"id":38,"date":"2006-10-04T21:29:15","date_gmt":"2006-10-05T01:29:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dementedramblings.com\/?p=38"},"modified":"2006-10-04T21:29:15","modified_gmt":"2006-10-05T01:29:15","slug":"southern-staple","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dementedramblings.com\/?p=38","title":{"rendered":"Southern staple"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dad and I have been rather bummed since all of the Winn Dixie stores here have gone belly up.\u00c2\u00a0 This means no more Palmetto Farms Pimento Cheese for us.\u00c2\u00a0 It truly is the best brand that we&#8217;ve ever found and we&#8217;ve tried nearly all of them available in this market.<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend, I picked up a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Deep-South-Parties-Cocktail-Processed\/dp\/1401308406\/sr=8-1\/qid=1160011443\/ref=pd_bbs_1\/102-0658498-6335355?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books\">new cookbook<\/a>, as I am wont to do.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 It contains three separate recipes for pimento cheese.\u00c2\u00a0 I started with one, but wound up sort of combining them all, plus a little impromptu miracle whip thrown in for good measure.<\/p>\n<p>Dad was very unsure about putting bacon into pimento cheese.\u00c2\u00a0 Good lord, I&#8217;d like to kiss whoever came up with that idea, sooooooo tasty.\u00c2\u00a0 Smeared on a super dark wheat bread, it is the best cheese sandwich around.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight Rachel Ray made a beef stroganoff on 30 minute meals.\u00c2\u00a0 I believe that I may have to try to duplicate that one very soon.\u00c2\u00a0 It looked terrific.\u00c2\u00a0 Dad swears that he hates stroganoff, but the thing that he describes is nothing like anything that I&#8217;ve ever eated called stroganoff.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m thinking he had something more like ghoulash, tomatoes and sour cream?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dad and I have been rather bummed since all of the Winn Dixie stores here have gone belly up.\u00c2\u00a0 This means no more Palmetto Farms Pimento Cheese for us.\u00c2\u00a0 It truly is the best brand that we&#8217;ve ever found and we&#8217;ve tried nearly all of them available in this market.
