{"id":36,"date":"2006-09-15T14:38:51","date_gmt":"2006-09-15T18:38:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dementedramblings.com\/?p=36"},"modified":"2006-09-15T14:38:51","modified_gmt":"2006-09-15T18:38:51","slug":"rescue-mission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dementedramblings.com\/?p=36","title":{"rendered":"rescue mission"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes things don&#8217;t work out exactly as you planned.\u00c2\u00a0 I found a recipe for a <a href=\"http:\/\/sidedish.allrecipes.com\/az\/milysFmsRstdVgtblSld.asp\">roasted vegetable salad<\/a> that sounded just scrumptious.\u00c2\u00a0 How could you go wrong with asparagus and red peppers?\u00c2\u00a0 Well, they weren&#8217;t the problem, per se.\u00c2\u00a0 The problem turned out to be the eggplant.<\/p>\n<p>Folks have told me since that I overcooked the eggplant by a lot, but I was just following the directions.\u00c2\u00a0 The more I stirred and tasted this concoction, the worse it looked (and tasted).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/pics.livejournal.com\/yshaloo\/pic\/0000cb7c\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I sure as hell wasn&#8217;t going to eat it.\u00c2\u00a0 I mean, just look at that brown lifeless puddle of goo.\u00c2\u00a0 And the vinegar was like a sharp pop in the nose with a stick.\u00c2\u00a0 I thought and thought about what I could do to rescue this since Dad argued with me about just throwing it away.\u00c2\u00a0 I most assuredly was not setting this dish out for guests though.<\/p>\n<p>So, I picked through and pulled out the asparagus and peppers, also saving a few of the onions.\u00c2\u00a0 Made a bit of pasta to mix it with, and put a little catalina dressing on the whole thing.\u00c2\u00a0 It still wasn&#8217;t great, I won&#8217;t be making it again, but at least it was edible.\u00c2\u00a0 And at least it stopped looking like someone had already eaten and regurgitated it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/pics.livejournal.com\/yshaloo\/pic\/0000dhf4\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes things don&#8217;t work out exactly as you planned.\u00c2\u00a0 I found a recipe for a roasted vegetable salad that sounded just scrumptious.\u00c2\u00a0 How could you go wrong with asparagus and red peppers?\u00c2\u00a0 Well, they weren&#8217;t the problem, per se.\u00c2\u00a0 The problem turned out to be the eggplant.
